Geoffrey Bertram’s career in the art business has spanned over thirty years. As a gallerist and art consultant he has developed many skills in promoting and presenting works of art. For information about the services he offers please use the links below.
Looking for art work for your home or office? I can provide consultancy service to get you the ideal artwork - paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics - for any situation and within your budget. I will come and discuss your needs with you and present options from which you can make your choice.
As an art dealer I buy and sell art – Modern British and Contemporary, and, more recently, Old Master prints. I look out for quality pieces at reasonable prices which I can offer to my clients.
If you have a work of art which you would like help in evaluating or selling I am pleased to offer advice and, if possible, sell on your behalf.
I also work with a small stable of artists to help sell their work in new marketplaces. These are particularly fine artists who have caught my attention because their imagery speaks to me. Furthermore, since they are not represented by art galleries, I am keen to help them present their work to new audiences and collectors via one -on-one presentations, art fairs or exhibitions. Their works can be found in Featured Artists on the Art Works for Sale section.
Would you like help in installing your new acquisition? I offer an installation service which helps you install your art in the best place be it a painting, print, or sculpture.
Have you become blind to the artwork in your home or office? Have a shake up! If artworks have been in the same place for long periods, they can become an invisible part of the environment. Re-discover your art by resiting it to different places. I will be delighted to do this for you.
Being able to write clearly and coherently about an artist is important in promoting their work successfully. I have written and published a book on the etchings of John Clerk of Eldin, prepared numerous catalogues for individual and group art exhibitions, and been commissioned by artists to write introduction essays on their work. Samples of my writing on art can be found below.
A curator creates exhibitions, selects works, prepares an exhibition statement and provides educational and promotional materia. Do you need assistance with an exhibition? I have initiated and curated numerous exhibitions since I first started working in art galleries in 1979. My most recent exhibitions have been for the Art for Life programme at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, and The Etchings of John Clerk of Eldin seen at the City Art Centre, Edinburgh and The Fleming Collection, London (2012-13). I also curate and assist in the creations of exhibitions on the work of the 20th century Scotish/St Ives artist Wilhelmina Barns-Graham (1912-2004) for The Barns-Graham Charitable Trust.
