Jules Olitski was part of the Color Field Movement of US art of the 1950's and 60's, that ran alongside contemporary Abstract Expressionism. This print is representative of his imagery, where thin layers of sprayed colour are superimposed on each other, creating atmosphere and space. These images resonate feelings rather than than being specifically descriptive.
